We thought it’s about time we let you know what we’ve been up to recently!

Last month was our March tour and just before it started we went on BBC Leeds to cisit The Durbervilles on their weekly folk show, which was lots of fun! It’s a really great show covering folk and roots music, so do tune in when you can. It’s also available to hear online if you’re not in the Leeds area: http://www.bbc.co.uk/programmes/p001d7kk
Then the tour got properly underway and for three weeks we travelled to lots of great places, from deepest Wales, to our old university in Newcastle, to Leeds University, the National Theatre, Derby Assembly Rooms and we ended the tour with a couple of dates in Cambridgeshire. Our tour also got listed in The Independent’s top 10 gigs, which was nice. We had a lot of fun along the way, stayed in a Sherlock Holmes themed hotel, mended Hannah’s car with a clog and at one point we even got mistaken for Australian Pink Floyd…
During the tour, we also did a few house concerts, something which is becoming increasingly popular and always a really enjoyable evening. Hannah recently wrote an article for the Spiral Earth website all about house concerts, which is available to read here: http://www.spiralearth.co.uk/attitude/HannahJamesSamSweeneyApril2012.asp
We were very warmly welcomed everywhere we went on the tour, so a massive thanks to everyone who came to watch, fed us and looked after us. We even previewed a few new songs whih was exciting! Hope to be getting some more ready for summer too.
There are also a few photos from our March gigs on our facebook page here:
We’ve also had some time to get some updated publicity photos taken by the very talented Elly Lucas. The photos include some interior and exterior shots and can currently be seen on our facebook page https://www.facebook.com/pages/Lady-Maisery/163964126976737 and on Elly’s website http://www.ellylucas.co.uk/ alongside lots of her other amazing photos.
What we’ve been up to since the tour…
Since the tour we’ve all been quite busy. Straight after the tour Hannah went back on the road, this time with Maddy Prior and Giles Lewin. The tour ends tomorrow in Winchester, so you can still catch them if you’re quick! More info here: http://www.maddyprior.co.uk/mptours.htm
Hazel has been gigging with The Askew Sisters this month. They have a few more tour dates coming up, including a dates at The Place in London next week, playing for a new contemporary dance piece by The Darren Ellis Dance Company. More information about their tour dates here: http://www.askewsisters.co.uk/pages/site/gig-list.htm
Rowan has been moving house and is now just about to start a little solo house concert tour. She’s also going to take her driving test next week so fingers crossed for her! Then Hannah won’t be the only driver during our tours!
What’s coming up next…
We’ll be getting back on the road at the beginning of May for a mammoth three festivals in one weekend (Stepping Stones Festival in Cumbria, Bellingham All Acoustic Festival in Northumberland, and Bristol Folk Festival in…Bristol)! We’ll also be playing the Red Lion Folk Club in Birmingham which we first visited when we supported Kerfuffle’s Christmas tour winter before last!
Then the summer festival season will be getting fully underway in June (we’ve realised we’re doing 10 this year!). Further details of all our gigs on our website: http://www.ladymaisery.com/gigs/
We’re also currently putting together a tour for November this year, alongside some other dates, so as ever please let us know where you want us to visit by emailing firstname.lastname@example.org
